About 21,403 pounds of chicken products from OSI Industries of Fort Atkinson, Wis., have been recalled, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
The ready-to-eat products were produced on Aug. 5, 2016, and some were shipped to Kansas, according to a news release.
The chicken may be contaminated with extraneous materials, the USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service said.
Affected were 35-ounce/2 pound 3 ounce frozen plastic packages containing “On-Cor Chicken Patties Microwaveable” with best by date of 8-5-2017.
The products subject to recall bear establishment number P-5615 inside a USDA mark of inspection.
The problem was discovered when the firm received notification of three consumer complaints mentioning firm blue plastic in their product, according to the news release. The product was contaminated about the time a trim repair was made on belt material.
Anyone concerned about an injury or illness should contact a health care provider, according to the release.
Consumers are urged not to consume the products. They should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase, according to the news release. Consumers with questions about the recall can contact Dave Wetherton, assistant vice president of retail sales, at 844-674-8100.

The Kansas City Kansas Community College Division of Arts, Humanities and Social Science is co-sponsoring a discussion this week focusing on freedom of speech.
“The Role of Art in Practicing, Protecting and Promoting Freedom of Speech” is at 10 a.m. Nov. 9 in Room 2325 of Lower Jewell on the KCKCC Main Campus, 7250 State Ave. The discussion is open to students, staff, faculty and community members.
Panelists include Aleen Ratzlaff, Erika Nelson and Max Evans. Mike Pettengell, English professor at KCKCC, will be the moderator.
Other co-sponsors of the event are the Critical Issues Committee and the Kansas Humanities Council, whose purpose is to promote the understanding of history, tradition and ideas to make the community stronger.
“Our guests on this panel bring a unique perspective,” said Polly Hawk, assistant professor of English at KCKCC, “a perspective that ranges from the ways that Kansans have, in the spirit of William Allen White, practiced, protected and promoted the Freedom of Speech in Kansas from the use of political cartoons in historically black newspapers to Kansas protest art.”
