Buy one $20 ticket, get another $5 free in lottery promotion today

The Kansas Lottery is holding a flash sale today to promote its Holiday Millionaire Raffle contest.

Those who buy a $20 Holiday Millionaire Raffle ticket today will automatically receive a $5 Super Kansas Cash ticket, a spokesman said.

The one-day promotion between 5 a.m. and 8:59 p.m. is for Oct. 7 only. The free $5 Super Kansas Cash ticket will be for the Oct. 8 drawing.

If a player is lucky enough to receive a $20 instant win at the time they purchase the Holiday Millionaire Raffle ticket today, they will not receive a free $5 Super Kansas Cash ticket, according to the spokesman.

The first early bird drawing in the Holiday Millionaire Raffle will be Sunday, Oct. 9, when one player will win $25,000. The grand prize drawing will be Jan. 3.

Other early bird drawings will be held Oct. 16, 20, 23, 27 and 30, and Nov. 3, 6, 10, 13 and 27. The Nov. 27 early bird drawing will also be for $25,000; each of the other early bird drawings will award a $10,000 prize.

Odds of winning an early bird drawing depend on the number of tickets sold at the time of each drawing, a spokesman said. More information is at www.kslottery.com.

Oil spill leads to crash on I-35

An oil spill on I-35 northbound on the ramp to 7th Street led to a crash on Oct. 5, according to a Kansas Highway Patrol trooper’s report.

After an oil spill from a vehicle not involved in the crash, a Dodge Avenger slid into a Toyota Prius at about 1:40 p.m., according to the trooper’s report.

The driver of the Dodge, a 28-year-old woman from Kansas City, Kan., had a possible injury, according to the trooper’s report.

The driver of the Prius, a 29-year-old woman from Paola, Kan., was injured and was taken to a hospital in Kansas City, Kan., the report stated.

A 33-year-old woman passenger from Olathe in the Prius had a possible injury, the report stated.

A 3-year-old Olathe girl in the Prius also had a possible injury and was taken to the hospital, the report stated.
