Police investigate homicide in 600 block of Stewart

Kansas City, Kan., police are investigating a homicide at about 11:44 p.m. Oct. 9 in the 600 block of Stewart Avenue, according to a police spokesman.

When they arrived at the scene, officers located a 16-year-old male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound, the spokesman said.

The teenager was transported to a hospital, where at 1:45 a.m., he died from his injuries, the spokesman said.

There is no suspect information at this time, police said.

The Kansas City, Kan., Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division is encouraging anyone with information to call the TIPS hotline at 816-474-TIPS.

Fire reported at plant

An electrical transformer fire was reported about 3 p.m. Sunday at the Certainteed Fiberglass plant at 103 Funston Road, Kansas City, Kan.

The Kansas City, Kan., Fire Department responded, and the fire was extinguished, according to authorities.
