House fire on 66th extinguished quickly

A house fire this morning was extinguished quickly, according to a spokesman for the Kansas City, Kan., Fire Department.

The were no injuries in the fire, which occurred around 8:35 a.m. in the 3300 block of North 66th Street, the spokesman said.

Fire crews arriving at the scene reported smoke showing, fire officials said.

The fire was located in the basement, the spokesman said.

Three injured when vehicle overturns on I-70

Three passengers were injured when a Mercury Sable overturned on eastbound I-70 west of the 57th Street exit.

The crash happened at 12:15 a.m. Monday, Oct. 24, according to a trooper’s report.

According to the Kansas Turnpike Authority trooper’s report, the driver of the Sable braked and swerved right, losing control and leaving the roadway. The Sable overturned several times, the report stated. The report also stated it was unknown why the driver applied the brakes.

The driver, a 21-year-old man from Kansas City, Kan., was not injured, the report stated.

A 28-year-old Kansas City, Kan., woman was injured and taken to a hospital, according to the report.

Also injured was a 23-year-old Kansas City, Mo., man who was a passenger in the Sable, the report stated.

Another injury was to a 26-year-old Kansas City, Kan., man who was a passenger in the Sable, according to the trooper’s report.

Injury crash reported on K-7

An injury crash was reported at 9:29 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 23, on K-7 at Commercial Street in Bonner Springs, Kan.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol trooper’s report, a Lexus passenger car was eastbound on Commercial Street and a Honda Pilot was southbound on K-7.

The driver of the Lexus failed to yield and attempted to make an illegal left turn in front of the Pilot, the trooper’s report stated. The Pilot then struck the Lexus, the report said.

The driver of the Lexus, a 31-year-old Topeka, Kan., woman, was not injured, the report stated.

The driver of the Pilot, a 52-year-old man from Topeka, Kan., had a possible injury, the report stated.

Injured passengers in the Pilot included a 56-year-old Topeka, Kan., woman, and a 79-year-old Topeka, Kan., man.

An 11-year-old Topeka, Kan., boy and a 34-year-old Topeka, Kan., man in the Pilot were not injured, the report stated.
