Injury crash reported in construction area on I-435

An injury crash was reported at 5:24 p.m. Sept. 15 on I-435 northbound, north of K-32 in Wyandotte County, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol.

A Toyota Rav4 and a Nissan car were northbound on I-435 when traffic slowed because of construction, and the Rav4 hit the Nissan, according to the trooper’s report.

The driver of the Nissan, a 55-year-old woman from Liberty, Mo., was injured and was taken to the hospital, according to the trooper’s report.

The driver of the Rav4, a 25-year-old woman from Lansing, Kan., was not injured, according to the trooper’s report.

KCK NAACP to hold Freedom Fund Banquet Saturday

The KCK NAACP will be holding the 98th annual Freedom Fund Banquet Saturday, Sept. 17, at the Holiday Inn and Suites in Overland Park, 8787 Reeder Road.

The banquet begins at 7 p.m. The theme is “Our Lives Matter…Our Votes Count” and the speaker is Deacon Harold Simmons of Kansas City, Kan., commissioner of the National Baptist Criminal Justice Commission.
