Today’s weather will be sunny with a high near 76, according to the National Weather Service.

Tonight, the low will be around 53 with a west wind of 3 to 5 mph, according to the weather service.

Wednesday, it will be sunny with a high near 68, and a north wind of 5 to 10 mph, the weather service said. Wednesday night, the low will be around 50 with a north wind of 5 to 7 mph.

Thursday, expect sunny skies and a high near 69, according to the weather service. There will be a north wind of 5 to 8 mph. Thursday night, it will be mostly clear with a low of 49, the weather service said.

Friday’s forecast will be sunny with a high near 72, according to the weather service. Friday night, it will be mostly clear with a low of 52.

Saturday, it will be mostly sunny with a high near 72, the weather service said.

Police investigate homicide at 43rd and State Avenue

Kansas City, Kan., police are investigating a homicide at 2:19 p.m. Monday, Sept. 26, at 4301 State Ave., according to a police spokesman.

Police responded to a shooting at that address and found a man in his early 20s dead from an apparent gunshot wound, according to the spokesman. He was found in the parking lot, where there is a closed grocery store and the Midway Shopping Center nearby.

There is no suspect information at this time, a spokesman said.

The homicide is under investigation by the Kansas City, Kan., Police Department’s Major Case Unit, which is encouraging anyone with information to call the TIPS hotline at 816-474-TIPS.

Two job fairs planned in Wyandotte County

Two job fairs are planned in the next month for Wyandotte County.

The first is Tuesday, Sept. 27, at the Reardon Center, 520 Minnesota Ave., Kansas City, Kan.

The second job fair is a month later, on Oct. 27 at the KCKCC Technical Education Center, 6565 State Ave.

Kansas Works job fair planned Sept. 27 at Reardon Center

A job fair will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 27, at the Reardon Convention Center, 520 Minnesota Ave., Kansas City, Kan.

The Kansas Works job fair is part of a statewide job fair being held at different locations throughout the state on Sept. 27.

Employers and job seekers will be able to meet and learn about job opportunities at the fair.

The fair will open exclusively to veterans from 2:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. and at 3 p.m. Sept. 27 all job seekers are invited to attend.

Third District Job Fair to be Oct. 27

U.S. Rep. Kevin Yoder, R-3rd Dist., has announced that the Third District Job Fair will be held on Thursday, Oct. 27, at the Kansas City Kansas Community College Burke Technical Education Center, 6565 State Ave.

The job fair will facilitate face-to-face meetings between those seeking employment and local employers who are currently hiring. The job fair includes a special morning hour exclusively for veterans.

The hours of the job fair are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 27. The 9 to 10 a.m. hour is open exclusively to veterans.

Job seekers are advised to dress as if they’re going to a job interview and bring several copies of their resume. There is no registration or fee required to attend.
