Hot weather returns to Wyandotte County this week

After storms, Wyandotte County will see return of hot weather.

Thunderstorms passed through the Kansas City area this morning. While most of the storms already have left the Kansas City, Kan., area, storms are possible through 3 p.m. in Wyandotte County, according to the National Weather Service.

Today’s weather will be hot, with mostly sunny skies and a high near 92, with a heat index as high as 101, the weather service said.

In a wide area to the east of Kansas City, Mo. in central Missouri, the storms are causing life-threatening flash flooding, according to the weather service.

From 2 to 6 inches of rain is expected in central Missouri, the weather service said.

Areas southwest of Kansas CIty will see highs in the middle to upper 90s today with heat index values up to 105 degrees, the weather service said. Clouds and rain should keep areas to the east of KC metro a little cooler.

Heat will return to the entire region Tuesday through Thursday. Highs will be in the middle to upper 90s with heat index values of 102 degrees to 107 degrees.

Tonight, it will be partly cloudy with a low of 76 and a south southeast wind of 6 mph, the weather service said.

Tuesday, Election Day, it will be mostly sunny, with a high near 96, according to the weather service. The heat index will be as high as 105. There will be a south southeast wind of 6 mph.

On Wednesday, expect a high of 95, with a south wind around 7 mph, the weather service said. Wednesday night, the low will be around 77.
Thursday, it will be mostly sunny, with a high near 95, the weather service said. Thursday night, the low will be around 76.

On Friday, rain returns to the forecast with a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms and a high of 92, the weather service said.

Rain continues in the forecast through the weekend. Friday night, Saturday and Sunday, the chance of rain is 40 percent, according to the weather service.
