Touch-a-Truck and Tractor Daze to be June 4 at Ag Hall
Touch-a-Truck and Tractor Daze will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 4, at the National Agricultural Center and Hall of Fame, 126th and State Avenue, Bonner Springs, Kan. Included is an antique and classic tractor show, machinery and equipment displays, steam tractor and sawmill demonstrations, antique construction equipment, drone demonstrations, kiddie pedal pull, garden tractor pull, miniature train rides and hayrides, blacksmith demonstrations, combine harvest simulator, and homemade ice cream. There will be activities for kids, food vendors and live music. The donation is $5 per person, with children 4 and under free. Learn how marbles are made
A marble-making demonstration is scheduled from about 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 4, at Moon Marble Co. store, 600 E. Front St., Bonner Springs. Nature hike planned at Schlagle Library
A nature hike for all ages is planned from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, June 4, at the Mr. and Mrs. F.L. Schlagle Environmental Library, 4051 West Drive, at Wyandotte County Lake Park, 91st and Leavenworth Road. The group will meet at the library, and then walk on the bridle trail. Those who participate are asked to wear appropriate clothing, as it may be muddy in places.

The Armourdale Levee Fest will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 4, at 1900 Kansas Ave., Kansas City, Kan. The Armourdale Levee Trail starts just west of 18th Street, below the Kansas Avenue bridge, near the Proctor and Gamble plant. Summer reading kickoff party at West Wyandotte Library
The West Wyandotte Library, 1737 N. 82nd, Kansas City, Kan., will have a summer reading kickoff party from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 4, in the auditorium. The program is for all ages. There will be food and activities, including an obstacle course, inflatables and games.

Cabela’s schedules fly-fishing class
Cabela’s, 10300 Cabela Drive, Kansas City, Kan., has scheduled a free fly-fishing class from 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 4. Interested persons may meet at the Cabela’s Fly Shop and the class will go to the outdoor pond. The class is for beginners and experienced anglers.

Alice in Wonderland tea party planned at South Library
An Alice in Wonderland Garden Tea Party is planned from 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 4, at the South Library meeting room, 3104 Strong Ave., Kansas City, Kan. The event for children will include snacks, as well as croquet and reading stories. Registration is required to 913-722-2400.

Car wash to benefit church youth group
Victory Hills Church of the Nazarene, 6200 Parallel Parkway, plans a car wash from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday, June 4, to benefit the youth group. This will provide funds for activities for youth.

Live at the Legends summer concert to be June 4
Legends Outlets will again offer free outdoor entertainment through its Live at the Legends Summer Concert Series on Saturday evenings in June and July beginning Saturday, June 4. All concerts will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. at Legends Outlets’ Civic Courtyard Fountain, in front of AMC Legends 14 Theatre, at 1843 Village West Parkway, Kansas City, Kan. On June 4, Run With It, pop-rock band with a foundation of funk and soul, is scheduled to perform.

Home near 10th and Splitlog a total loss after fire

A fire at 8:40 p.m. Thursday, June 2, at 1017 Splitlog Ave., Kansas City, Kan., resulted in a $40,000 loss, according to the Kansas City, Kan., Fire Department spokesman.

The single-story home, valued at $30,000, was a total loss, along with a loss of contents valued at $10,000, according to the spokesman. There were no injuries.

Fire crews arrived within 4 minutes of the call, the spokesman said. The fire was already visible and there was heavy smoke, according to firefighters

The crews put out the fire in 45 minutes. The fire investigator is looking into the causes of the fire, the spokesman said.

The home had no smoke detectors, according to the Fire Department report.
