Croatian Festival held at St. John’s

This year’s Croatian Festival was a huge success.

An estimated 300 people attended the annual event sponsored by the St. John Catholic Club.

The event was held at St. John’s Catholic Church, 5th and Barnett, Kansas City, Kan.

Festival today raises funds for Sisters, Servants of Mary

The Sisters, Servants of Mary, plan a summer festival from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, June 5, at the sisters’ convent grounds at 800 N. 18th St., Kansas City, Kan.

Funds raised at this event benefit the Sisters, Servants of Mary, who do not charge for nursing care for individuals and families.

At the festival, there will be tacos, tamales, Italian sausage, barbecue sandwiches and desserts. There will be games, booths and cookbooks for sale.

80-year-old driver ejected from motorcycle on I-635

An 80-year-old motorcyclist from Overland Park, Kan., was ejected from a motorcycle at 11:32 a.m. Saturday, June 4, on I-635 northbound near State Avenue in Kansas City, Kan., according to a Kansas Highway Patrol trooper’s report.

The rear tire of the Honda motorcycle went flat, the motorcycle went into the east ditch and the driver was thrown off, according to the trooper’s report.

The motorcyclist was injured and taken to the hospital, according to the report.
