Giant yoga class fundraiser for Victory Project scheduled Wednesday evening at Children’s Mercy Park

The Victory Project will hold its “Yoga on the Pitch” fundraising event Wednesday from 7 to 8 p.m. at Children’s Mercy Park in Kansas City, Kan.

The 60-minute, all-levels yoga class will take place on the field to help raise funds for the Victory Project.

Select Sporting KC players will also participate in the class and hold an autograph session afterwards.

Open to those aged 11 and up, Yoga on the Pitch costs $50 and includes the yoga class, a tank top and the chance to win prizes courtesy of Sporting KC and other companies.

Three-vehicle crash reported at K-7 and 130th

A three-vehicle crash was reported at 2:15 p.m. Sunday, June 5, at K-7 and 130th Street, according to a Kansas Highway Patrol trooper’s report.

A Dodge Caravan was northbound on K-7, and ran a red light, striking a Honda CRV and a Chevrolet 1500 pickup that were turning from 130th to southbound K-7, according to the trooper’s report.

The driver of the Caravan, a 78-year-old Lansing, Kan., man, was taken to a hospital, according to the trooper’s report.

The driver of the Honda CRV, a 19-year-old Kansas City, Kan., woman, was taken to a hospital, the report stated.

The driver of the Chevrolet pickup truck, a 67-year-old man from Bonner Springs, Kan., was not injured. He was not wearing a seat belt, according to the trooper’s report.

Weather: Sunny, with temperatures in mid-80s today

Today’s forecast will be sunny with a high near 85, and a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 3 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.

A weak frontal boundary will move through the region this afternoon and evening, bringing isolated thunderstorms. Although a few strong wind gusts will be possible with this storm, widespread severe weather is not anticipated, the weather service said.

Dry weather returns Tuesday with a warming trend expected later in the week as temperatures climb into the low 90s for the first time this year, both Thursday and Friday, the weather service said.

Tonight, there is a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 10 p.m., according to the weather service. The low will be around 56, with a north wind of 5 to 8 mph.

Tuesday, it will be sunny with a high near 77, the weather service said. A north wind of 5 to 8 mph will become south in the morning.

Tuesday night, expect a low of 58, with a north wind of 6 mph becoming calm in the evening, the weather service said.

Wednesday’s forecast is mostly sunny with a high near 83, according to the weather service, with a south southeast wind of 3 to 8 mph. Wednesday night, the low will be around 58.

Thursday, the high will be near 90 with sunny skies, the weather service said. Thursday night, expect a low of 72.

Friday, it will be sunny with a high near 90, according to the weather service. The low will be around 70 on Friday night.

Saturday, the high will be near 91 with sunny skies, the weather service said. Saturday night’s low will be around 71.
