Speedway announces network, time change for Oct. 15 race

Kansas Speedway, in collaboration with NASCAR and NBC Sports Group, announced today a new time and network for the Kansas Lottery 300 on Oct. 15 in Kansas City, Kan.

The race, which is the first race in the Round of 8 for the NASCAR XFINITY Series Chase for the Championship, will air at 2 p.m. on NBC and Motor Racing Network (MRN).

“This is an exciting announcement for our fans,” said Kansas Speedway President Patrick Warren. “For fans that are traveling to the Kansas Lottery 300, this will help their travel plans back home and for our local race fans, they will have some extra time to enjoy the dining and entertainment options around Kansas Speedway, including the Hollywood Casino at Kansas Speedway.”

KHP chase ends at I-35 and 18th Street Expressway

A chase that started in Independence, Mo., ended on I-35 northbound near the 18th Street Expressway at 12:37 p.m. Tuesday, June 7.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol trooper’s report, Kansas troopers were in pursuit of a Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck on 75th Street at Antioch Road in Johnson County.

The vehicle ran a red light and entered I-35 from 75th Street before overturning in the south ditch near the 18th Street Expressway, according to the trooper’s report. The area of the crash was considered to be near the Johnson-Wyandotte county line.

The driver, a 31-year-old woman from Independence, Mo., was injured and taken to a hospital in Kansas City, Kan., according to the trooper’s report.

A Johnson County Jail booking report showed she was booked into the jail on a charge of fleeing a law enforcement officer and reckless driving.

KCK student named to honors list at Concordia University

Scott Johnson, a senior from Kansas City, Kan., was named to the honors list for the spring semester at Concordia University, Seward, Neb.

To be on the honors list, students must be in the top 25 percent of all undergraduate students who complete at least 12 credit hours.

Concordia University has more than 2,600 students and is affiliated with the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod.
