High school teams competing in tournament at CommunityAmerica Ballpark

The Butch Foster Memorial Baseball Classic is scheduled this afternoon and evening at CommunityAmerica Ballpark and will run through three days in Kansas City, Kan.

This tournament will include three teams from the Kaw Valley League, host of the classic, and five teams from outside the league. Teams competing include Basehor-Linwood, Bonner Springs, Tonganoxie, Baldwin, Holton, Paola, Perry-Lecompton and Spring Hill.

Games are scheduled at noon, 2:30 p.m., 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The championship game is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Saturday at CommunityAmerica Ballpark.

Tickets are $7 per adult each day and $5 for students in kindergarten through 12th grade. An all-tournament pass costs $14. Tickets are available at Gate A at CommunityAmerica Ballpark.

Police discover body near 8th and Tauromee

A body was found about 10:52 a.m. Thursday, April 28, in a home near 8th and Tauromee, according to a Kansas City, Kan., police spokesman.

The body of a male was found in an upstairs bedroom in a vacant unfit house, according to police.

The circumstances of the death are unknown at this time, and other information is expected to be released later, the spokesman said.

KCKCC to play Neosho County in home game this afternoon

Kansas City Kansas Community College will be the host of the No. 1 ranked NJCAA Division I baseball team in the nation Thursday when the Blue Devils (34-15) play Neosho County (44-7) in a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m.

Second in the Jayhawk Conference with a 22-10 record, the Blue Devils trail Neosho (25-7) by three games going into the final four-game series of the season.

The two teams will close out the regular conference season Saturday with a twin bill at Chanute.
