Monday’s forecast includes a wind advisory plus snow showers.

Light snow flurries were falling about 9 a.m. Monday in Wyandotte County.

According to the National Weather Service, scattered snow showers are possible mainly before 2 p.m., with areas of blowing snow possible before 11 a.m. The chance of precipitation is 50 percent.

The snow showers will have a hit-and-miss nature, with not everyone seeing snow accumulation, the weather service said. Some may see only flurries while others will get a brief snow burst of one-half inch in 15 minutes.

Overall snow amounts will be less than an inch, the weather service said.

A wind advisory is in effect today, now through 6 p.m., according to the weather service.

A north northwest wind of 17 to 22 mph may increase to 23 to 28 mph in the morning, gusting as high as 44 mph, the weather service said.

The combination of snow and strong winds may produce periods of very low visibility and slippery roads, the weather service said.

Travel may be occasionally hazardous because of these periods of falling and blowing snow, according to the weather service. Extra travel time and caution is needed for those on the roads, the weather service said.

Snow will taper off from west to east by the afternoon hours, according to the weather service.

Winds also will diminish from west to east by late this afternoon, the weather service said.

Today’s high will be around 33 degrees. Tonight, the low will be around 20, with a northwest wind of 16 to 24 mph, gusting to 33 mph.

Tuesday, expect mostly sunny skies and a high near 32. A northwest wind of 16 to 18 mph will gust as high as 28 mph.

Tuesday night, the low will be around 16, with a north northwest wind of 10 to 15 mph, gustin as high as 22 mph.

Wednesday, there will be mostly sunny skies with a high near 34, and a north northwest wind of 60 to 10 mph, becoming east in the afternoon. Wednesday night’s low will be 19.

Thursday, it will be mostly sunny with a high near 36.

Scattered rain and snow showers are possible Sunday evening before midnight, then scattered snow showers are possible after midnight, according to the National Weather Service.

Tonight’s low will be 28. The west northwest wind will be from 16 to 24 mph with gusts as high as 34 mph, according to the weather service. There is a 50 percent chance of precipitation.

Monday’s forecast calls of scattered snow showers, mainly before noon, then isolated flurries after 3 p.m., the weather service said. The high Monday will be near 31.

A wind advisory will be in effect from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, the weather service said. The north northwest wind will be from 25 to 30 mph, gusting as high as 43 mph. The chance of precipitation is 50 percent.

The weather service said strong crosswinds on highways could make travel difficult, particularly for high-profile vehicles.

On Monday, the weather service said the winds could combine with snow showers to create brief but intense snow squalls, especially during the morning hours.

Visibility could be greatly reduced, and the combination of near-zero visibility and light snow accumulations on roadways could result in hazardous driving conditions, especially during the Monday morning commute, the weather service said.

Monday night, the low will be around 19, according to the weather service. It will be blustery, with a north northwest wind of 19 to 24 mph decreasing to 13 to 18 mph after midnight. Winds may gust as high as 32 mph.

Tuesday, it will be partly sunny with a high near 34, the weather service said. The north northwest wind will be 10 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

Tuesday night, the low will be around 15, with a north northwest wind of 10 mph, according to the weather service.
