First Christian Church of Bonner Springs, 148 N. Nettleton Ave., will be the host of Bread and Broth during the Lenten season.
Lent is a time of reflection between Ash Wednesday and Easter.
Bread and Broth is a simple meal of fellowship at 6 p.m. on Wednesday nights with a short service at 6:30 p.m. led by the pastor, Randy Beeman. The fellowship will help persons reflect on the importance of Jesus’ life, ministry, and his resurrection on Easter, the pastor stated.
This year, the dates for Bread and Broth are Feb. 17, 24, March 2, 9 , 16 and 23.
A 45-year-old Kansas City, Kan., woman was arrested at 8:35 p.m. Feb. 14 in Clay County.
She was arrested on felony possession of a controlled substance, felony forgery, felony resisting arrest and presenting false identification to gain entry into a casino.
She was taken to the Clay County, Mo., Jail, according to the Missouri Highway Patrol report.
Bridge deck repair work is planned for the area near I-435 and Leavenworth Road on Wednesday, Feb. 17, through Friday, Feb. 19.
According to the Kansas Department of Transportation, the right lane of southbound I-435 over Leavenworth Road, and the westbound Leavenworth Road to southbound I-435 loop ramp will be closed around the clock for the bridge deck repair work. The project begins at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 17, and will reopen to all traffic by 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 19, weather permitting.
Advance message boards will alert traffic to the ramp and lane closures, the KDOT spokesman said. Traffic must use alternate routes during the short-term closures. Traffic can detour via 99th Street to Parallel Parkway or to Donahoo Road to access southbound I-435.
