More than 70 booths to be at Job Fair on Friday

More than 70 employers and organizations will have booths at U.S. Rep. Kevin Yoder’s 3rd District Job Fair and Resource Expo on Friday, Dec. 11, at Kansas City Kansas Community College’s Technical Education Center at 65th and State Avenue, Kansas City, Kan.

The job fair will help bring about face-to-face meetings between those seeking employment and local business owners who are currently hiring, according to a spokesman. It will include a special morning hour exclusively for veterans.

The job fair will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 11. The first hour, 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., will be exclusively for veterans.

Job seekers are asked to dress for success and bring several copies of their resume. There is no registration or fee required to attend the event.

The job fair will be held at KCKCC’s Dr. Thomas R. Burke Technical Education Center, 6565 State Ave., Kansas City, Kan.

Three KCK drivers involved in accident on I-435

Three Kansas City, Kan., drivers were involved in a multi-vehicle accident this morning on I-435 near Holliday Drive.

The accident was in Johnson County, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol trooper’s report.

According to the trooper’s report, three vehicles were southbound on I-435 about 7:38 a.m. Dec. 8 when the accident occurred.

A Hyundai Crossover sport utility vehicle changed lanes in front of a Chevrolet passenger car, the trooper’s report stated. Then the Chevy struck the rear end of the Hyundai. The Hyundai then spun out and struck the front of a Ford passenger car, according to the report.

The driver of the Ford passenger car, a 45-year-old Kansas City, Kan., woman, had a possible injury and was taken to a hospital, the report said.

The driver of the Hyundai, a 48-year-old woman from Kansas City, Kan., was not injured, the report stated.

The driver of the Chevrolet passenger car, a 33-year-old Kansas City, Kan., man, was not injured, according to the report.

Mayor’s Listening Tour to be tonight at Schlagle

The Mayor’s Listening Tour will be held at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 8, at Schlagle High School, 2214 N. 59th St., Kansas City, Kan.

UG Mayor-CEO Mark Holland will ask residents in small groups to talk about how they would want to spend a sales tax windfall of about $12 million a year expected to occur when the STAR bonds are paid off at The Legends Outlets. Some Unified Government commissioners are expected to attend.
