Victim of traffic accident at 110th and Leavenworth Road identified

The victim of a fatal traffic accident at 110th and Leavenworth Road on Oct. 30 has been identified, according to a Kansas City, Kan., police spokesman.

The victim was Ivica Tomasic, 39, a resident of Kansas City, Kan., police said.

He was found trapped under an International utility truck at the accident scene, police said.

The truck was westbound on Leavenworth Road when the driver lost control, left the roadway, and overturned in a ditch, police said.

The accident is under investigation by the Kansas City, Kan., Police Department’s Traffic Support Unit – Critical Collision Response Team.

Royals’ victory parade to begin at noon Tuesday

A Kansas City Royals victory parade will be held at noon Tuesday, Nov. 3, in Kansas City, Mo.

The parade, celebrating the Royals’ World Series win, will end with a victory rally in front of Union Station.

The parade route starts on Grand Boulevard near the Sprint Center and Kansas City Power and Light District, and heads north to Ninth Street, then east to Oak, south to Truman and west back to Grand. Then it continues south on Grand to Pershing Road, and west to Union Station, where there will be a victory rally in front of Union Station.

Free bus service to the parade will be offered from 47th and State Avenue in Kansas City, Kan., as well as from several other locations in the metropolitan area, offered from 9 a.m. until two hours after the celebration ends.

Parking will be available in a few pay lots and garages; however, spectators are asked to carpool or use public transportation.

Six streets around the parade route and rally will be closed.

Sunny skies, mid-70s temperatures in today’s forecast

Above normal temperatures are expected to continue through Thursday, when rain and isolated storm chances return to the region, according to the National Weather Service forecast.

Today, expect sunny skies and a high near 76, according to the weather service. There will be a south southwest wind of 5 to 8 mph.

Tonight, temperatures drop to a low of 52, with a south wind around 6 mph, the weather service said.

Tuesday, skies will be mostly sunny, with a high near 74, according to the weather service. There will be a south wind of 6 to 11 mph.

Tuesday night, it will be mostly clear with a low of 57 and a south wind of 9 mph, the weather service said.

Wednesday, it will be mostly sunny with a high near 75, according to the weather service. A south wind will be 10 to 15 mph with gusts as high as 22 mph.

Wednesday night, it will be partly cloudy with a low of 58, the weather service said.

Thursday, there is a 60 percent chance of storms and rain, with a high near 67, according to the weather service.

Thursday night, showers are likely, with a 70 percent chance of rain and a low of 47, the weather service said.
