by Alan Hoskins

Stretching their unbeaten winning streak to seven in a row with an 86-42 rout of Allen County Saturday, Kansas City Kansas Community College’s Lady Blue Devils are right back home today with a 5 p.m. tipoff against Missouri Valley JV.

Five Blue Devils scored in double figures as the No. 20 ranked Blue Devils raced to a 26-10 first quarter lead and were never challenged.

Erin Anderson led the way with a career high 20 points along with seven steals while freshman Brie Tauai had a standout all-around performance with 18 points,a game high 12 rebounds and five steals, all career bests.

Leading scorer Cheyenne North added a double double with 15 points, 11 rebounds and was not far from a triple double with a career high seven assists. Four of North’s assists came in the first five minutes as KCKCC broke in front 19-7. Brooklyn Wagler rounded out the balanced effort with 13 points and seven rebounds and Aricca Daye contributed 12 points and three assists.

“I was really happy that from the very git-go we played hard after playing so hard against Coffeyville the night before,” said KCKCC coach Joe McKinstry. “I think that showed the level of the balance, rebounding, depth and experience this team has.”

KCKCC registered 17 steals in forcing 29 Allen turnovers. The Blue Devils also dominated the rebounding 50-29 and shot 47.6 percent from the field while holding Allen to 31.4 percent.
