Injury-accident reported on I-35
An injury-accident was reported at 8:30 a.m. Oct. 5 on northbound I-35 near 18th Street in Kansas City, Kan.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol trooper’s report, a Volkswagen car was changing lanes and struck a Toyota Prius, which then went out of control and struck a Saab utility vehicle.
The driver of the Volkswagen, a 31-year-old woman from Mission, Kan., was not injured, according to the trooper’s report.
The driver of the Prius, a 43-year-old man from Olathe, Kan., was not injured, the report stated. A 37-year-old Olathe woman passenger in the Prius was injured and was taken to a hospital in Kansas City, Kan., the report said.
The driver of the Saab utility vehicle, a 73-year-old woman from Shawnee, Kan., was not injured, the report stated.
Pennsylvania driver sentenced after being caught in Kansas with 13 pounds of cocaine
A Pennsylvania man stopped on a highway in Kansas with more than 13 pounds of cocaine was sentenced Monday to 10 years in federal prison, U.S. Attorney Barry Grissom said.
Jamal Shareef Williams, 37, Homestead, Pa., pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute cocaine.
In his plea, he admitted he was driving a rented pickup on July 23, 2014, when the Kansas Highway Patrol stopped him on I-70 near exit 322 in Shawnee County. Investigators found the cocaine in metal compartments attached to the rims inside spare tires.
Grissom commended the Kansas Highway Patrol, the Drug Enforcement Administration and Assistant U.S. Attorney Greg Hough for their work on the case.
