Flooded K-5 reopens

Flooded K-5 over Seven-Mile Creek in Lansing, in Leavenworth County, is now open to all traffic, according to the Kansas Department of Transportation.

Flood waters have receded from over the roadway pavement and K-5 has been returned to normal traffic operations, a spokesman said.

Three-vehicle accident reported on I-635

Traffic was tied up on I-635 this morning when an accident happened, according to a Kansas Highway Patrol trooper’s report.

The accident happened at 7:36 a.m. July 7 on I-635 southbound, south of Shawnee Drive, in Kansas City, Kan.

A Nissan vehicle stopped for traffic on I-635 when it was rear-ended by a Kia, the trooper’s report stated. The Kia then was rear-ended by a Toyota, the report stated.

The driver of the Kia, a 19-year-old man from Kansas City, Kan., had a possible injury, the report stated.

A passenger in the Kia, a 24-year-old man from Socorro, Texas, also had a possible injury, according to the report.

The driver of the Toyota, a 40-year-old man from Overland Park, Kan., was injured and taken to the hospital, the report stated.

The driver of the Nissan, a 31-year-old woman from Kansas City, Mo., was not injured, according to the report.
