In the second chase that has come out of Missouri and run through Kansas City, Kan., in the past week, a chase went through the Fairfax area this morning.
The chase reportedly began in Independence, Mo., after a suspect allegedly hit two police cars.
The suspect went into Kansas City, Kan., north of Fairfax Trafficway and then onto Sunshine Road before turning on 7th Street and heading north to Missouri.
The suspect then was taken into custody in Riverside, Mo.
Last Thursday, a law enforcement chase started in Gladstone, Mo., and then made its way to I-35 near 18th Street Expressway in Kansas City, Kan., before ending in a fatality.
Today police released the name of the homicide victim in the 900 block of Miami Avenue in Kansas City, Kan.
The victim was Erica M. Rippetoe, 31, a resident of Kansas City, Kan.
She was found by police at 11:29 a.m. July 20 as officers responded to a call to check on the welfare of an individual. She died from an apparent gunshot wound, according to police.
Police said the case is under investigation by the Kansas City, Kan., Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division, which is encouraging anyone with information to call the TIPS hotline at 816-474-TIPS.

Usually the Wyandotte County Fair opens with extremely hot weather, but for today’s opening, there is an expected high of 83 degrees, with no rain in the forecast.
Many events and contests are scheduled today at the fair, including free tethered hot air balloon rides from 7 to 8:30 p.m. (weather permitting), a fruit pie contest, a Legos contest, a homegrown sunflower contest, a martial arts demonstration, and a free concert by the Back Road Express at 7 p.m. at the fairgrounds arena.
It will be carnival wristband night, when $15 will allow people to ride all the carnival rides this evening.
There also is a free petting zoo and free magic show. There will be many food vendors.
The fair is located at 13700 Polfer Road, Kansas City, Kan. (east of K-7 and Polfer Road). Hours are 5 to 10 p.m. today.
Admission to the Wyandotte County Fair is free, while parking will cost $5 per vehicle. The fair runs through Saturday, July 25.
