Today’s high to be in low 80s, forecasters say

Today’s weather will be partly sunny with a high in the low 80s, according to the National Weather Service.

There is a slight, 20 percent, chance of rain today, the weather service said. The weather service said there may be ongoing flooding in the region along area rivers, creeks and streams.

Tonight, the low will be 69. There will be a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly between 1 a.m. and 4 a.m., the weather service said.

On Thursday, expect a 20 percent chance of showers and storms. The high will be near 85, according to the weather service.

Thursday night, the low will be around 73.

Friday, hot weather returns to Wyandotte County, with a predicted high of 93, according to the weather service.

Saturday, the high will be near 92, the weather service said. Saturday night, expect a 40 percent chance of showers and storms, with a low of 74.

Sunday’s high will be near 90, with a 30 percent chance of showers and storms, the weather service said.

Police investigate shooting in 3000 block of North 27th

Police responded to a shooting at 6:07 p.m. July 21 in the 3000 block of North 27th Street.

A spokesman said police officers found a man in his 30s lying on the ground, who had sustained gunshot wounds to his body.

The victim was taken to a hospital in critical condition, the spokesman said.

The incident is under investigation by the Kansas City, Kan., Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division, which is encouraging anyone with information to call the TIPS hotline at 816-474-TIPS.
