Fire causes $75,000 damage to KCK home

A fire at a home at 1423 Fitzgerald Road caused $75,000 damage at 11:14 a.m. this morning, according to the Kansas City, Kan., Fire Department.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, according to the Fire Department spokesman.

Firefighters arrived within 4 minutes of the call to find heavy fire and smoke coming from a single-story wood-framed structure, the spokesman said.

The residents of the home had come home to find the house on fire. The three adults and three children are being assisted by the Red Cross. The children’s ages are 6, 5 and 3.

Firefighters had to leave the structure when the roof started to collapse, the spokesman said. The firefighters brought the fire under control in 30 minutes.

There were no injuries.
