Boats parading at night on the glittering waters of Wyandotte County Lake will be a highlight of the Christmas in July event planned from 4 to 11 p.m. Saturday, July 25, at Wyandotte County Lake.
Boats participating in the event will be decorated with Christmas decorations and lights as they circle around the lake at night.
The second annual event is sponsored by the Unified Government Parks and Recreation Department and will include activities for children, music, food and prizes.

Go-kart races — a new attraction this year –and a livestock auction are scheduled at tonight’s Wyandotte County Fair.
The go-kart races will start with practice at 6:30 p.m., and races will follow the practice. The event is free to watch, with a charge of $10 to participate.
It is a big night for 4-H’ers who raised animals, with the livestock buyers dinner at 6:30 p.m., a bucket calf parade at 7:15 p.m. and a livestock auction at 7:30 p.m.
Besides the go-kart races and the livestock auction, the fair today will feature a carnival and a free concert by the Sully Brothers at 7 p.m.
There also will be a free magic show, petting zoo, pig races, helicopter rides, weather-permitting, exhibits from 4-H and open class on display, and several food vendors.
The fair is located at 13700 Polfer Road, Kansas City, Kan. (east of K-7 and Polfer Road). Hours are 5 to 10 p.m. today.
Admission to the Wyandotte County Fair is free, while parking will cost $5 per vehicle. The fair runs through Saturday, July 25.
Wednesday’s barrel race at the fair was canceled late in the day after government inspectors determined that the ground was too muddy.

This photo was posted by the Kansas Highway Patrol on Twitter last night after a multi-vehicle crash in the eastbound lanes of I-70 near 57th Street. The accident happened about 7:30 p.m. Thursday. There were no serious injuries, with one person taken to the hospital, according to authorities.
