Accident reported on interstate ramp

An accident was reported at 9:55 p.m. May 24 on a ramp from I-635 northbound to I-70 westbound.

According to the Kansas Turnpike Authority, a Ford Ranger was on the ramp when it left the roadway and struck a guardrail.

The driver, a 28-year-old man from Kansas City, Kan., was injured and taken to the hospital.

KCKCC’s Alesana to College of St. Mary

Kansas City Kansas Community College forward Eirenei Alesana will continue her basketball career at the College of St. Mary in Omaha, Neb.

A 5-10 sophomore from Long Beach, Calif., Alesana helped KCKCC achieve a 52-12 record in her two seasons.

“She will be a great addition to the St. Mary program,” said KCKCC coach Valerie Stambersky. “She was such a good teammate and worked hard every day here at KCKCC. I’m very happy for her; I know she will find success there.”

Shooting 48.3 percent from the field, Alesana averaged 2.0 points and 1.9 rebounds as a sophomore after averaging 2.7 points and 2.3 rebounds as a freshman.
