KU women win Kansas Cup in rowing victory over K-State at Wyandotte County Lake

On a cloudy day with a few sprinkles of rain, the University of Kansas women’s rowing team came from behind in the final race to win the Sunflower Showdown over Kansas State University.

KU won the Sunflower State Regatta at Wyandotte County Lake, 14-9, over K-State.

KU won the 1st varsity eight, 6:52.1 to 6:52.4. K-State had an early lead in this contest, but KU came from behind, caught up and won it. It was so close that it was unknown at first who won.

K-State won the 2nd varsity eight, 6:58.5 to 7:05.8.

K-State won the varsity four, 7:39.3 to 7:40.3.

KU won the open four, 7:49.3 to 7:59.8.

KU won the 3rd novice eight and the novice A four.
