Town hall meeting planned for 8th District

A Town Hall meeting is planned from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 29, for the Unified Government 8th District.

The meeting, sponsored by UG Commissioner Jane Philbrook, will be at the Eisenhower Community Center, 2901 N. 72nd St., Kansas City, Kan.

The meeting will discuss recent developments in the district, and provide an opportunity for residents to express their concerns and ideas.

NAACP to meet May 5

The Kansas City, Kan., Branch NAACP will meet on Tuesday, May 5, at the Bethany Medical Center, 2nd Floor Meeting Room, 21 N. 12th St., Kansas City, Kan.

The executive meeting will begin at 6 p.m. followed by the general membership meeting at 7 p.m.

The WIN (Women in NAACP) Committee will also be meeting at 5 p.m. same day and place. All members are encouraged to attend.

Piper results

Piper forensics team does well at competition
The Piper High School forensics team recently did well in the Forensics Coach’s Invitational competition.
To enter this tournament, students were required to earn more bids to compete than they do for the state championships. The tournament gives a state champion without the usual size divisions.
