Food Truck Friday planned today in KCK

Food Truck Friday is planned from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. today, April 17, in downtown Kansas City, Kan.

The location of a food truck will be in the parking lot across from the Hilton Garden Inn, 520 Minnesota Ave., Kansas City, Kan. This month the food truck is from Deco Catering’s Deco Street Eats.

The event is sponsored by the Downtown Shareholders.

Thunderstorm chances will slowly increase today, starting this afternoon, the National Weather Service said.

No severe thunderstorms are expected, however, according to the weather service.

During the next few days, heavy rains leading to local flooding is possible, the weather service said.

Today, the chance of thunderstorms is 30 percent, mainly after 2 p.m., according to the weather service. The high will be near 76, with a southeast wind of 6 to 9 mph.

Tonight, expect a 60 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 1 a.m., according to the weather service. The low will be around 59, with a southeast wind of 5 to 8 mph. A tenth to a quarter of an inch of rain is possible.

For Saturday, the forecast is a high near 67 with an 80 percent chance of rain, the weather service said. Between three quarters and one inch of rain is possible.

Saturday night, there is a 50 percent chance of rain and storms, with a low of 56, the weather service said.

Sunday, there will be a 70 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, with a high near 66, according to the weather service. Between a quarter and a half-inch of rain is possible.

Sunday night’s low will be around 43, according to the weather service.

Police searching for person of interest in burglary case

The Kansas City, Kan., Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division is requesting the public’s assistance in locating a person of interest, a spokesman said.

Adalberto Mata-Beras is a male, 33 years old, approximately 5-7 and 170 pounds.

The Criminal Investigations Division would like to speak with Mata-Beras in reference to several burglaries and assaults occurring in the Woodview Ridge area, a spokesman said.
