The Timbers ranked second in road points (25), road wins (7) and goals scored on the road (27) in 2014 and the visiting team in this series has won four of the six meetings between the clubs in all competitions.

The last time these two clubs met, Sporting KC earned a 1-0 victory at Providence Park. The regular season victory came three days after the Timbers eliminated Sporting KC from the 2014 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.

Sporting Kansas City has not lost a home game in March since 2009, an unbeaten run of eight games (5-0-3).

Six of those matches have come at Sporting Park, where the club has conceded just three goals in 540 minutes of action during the month of March.

In Sporting KC’s last home outing, Ike Opara scored the team’s lone goal in a 1-1 draw against the New York Red Bulls. Midfielder Benny Feilhaber tallied the assist.

The Portland Timbers opened the season with a pair of draws, tying Real Salt Lake 0-0 and most recently securing a 2-2 result against the LA Galaxy. Fanendo Adi notched a brace that included a 90th minute goal to give Portland a late 2-1 lead against the Galaxy at Providence Park. Caleb Porter’s side couldn’t hold the lead, conceding a stoppage-time equalizer.
Sporting Kansas City will honor the 2014 National Women’s Soccer League Champions FC Kansas City at halftime of Saturday’s match.

Fans are encouraged to arrive early for a pre-game autograph signing on the Sprint Plaza with four FC Kansas City players: Yael Averbuch, Amy LePeilbet, Liz Bogus and Becca Morros. Additionally, the first 10,000 fans to arrive at Sporting Park will receive a Sporting KC flag courtesy of match sponsor H&R Block.
