KCK student part of Emporia State play production

A Kansas City, Kan., student is a member of the crew of “The Treehouse Effect,” an original comedy whose world premiere is being presented at Emporia State University.

Courtney Romero, from the Piper area, is the costume and makeup crew head.

The play is a contemporary and heartfelt exploration of memory and friendship that reunites three college friends after several years apart.

“The Treehouse Effect” runs March 4 through 7 in the Karl C. Bruder Theatre. For tickets or more information, contact the box office at 620-341-6378.

BPU to meet March 4

The Board of Public Utilities will meet at 4:30 p.m. March 4 for a work session and at 6 p.m. for the regular meeting.

The meeting will be at the BPU offices at 540 Minnesota Ave., Kansas City, Kan.

On the agenda for the work session will be an update from the general manager and board; and a report on the Clean Power Plan.

On the agenda for the regular session meeting at 6 p.m. are a visitors’ time, Cultivate Kansas City update, preliminary January financial report board comments, general manager comments, and a closed executive session.
