Bonner Springs Dessert Theatre planned tonight

Bonner Springs High School is planning a Dessert Theater from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 26, in the Bonner Springs High School auditorium, 100 McDanield, Bonner Springs.

The cost of the event will be $1 per student and $2 per adult.

The Drama Club members at the Bonner Springs high school and middle school will entertain with a night of improvisation, duo performances and one-act comedy, “The Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon” by Dan Zolidis.

The comedy is a mishmash of Grimm stories in a new light.

Dessert will be available after the play.

Three KCK students participate in leaders summit

Three Kansas City, Kan., students are among 28 freshmen and seven student facilitators who participated in Baker University’s Emerging Leaders Summit recently at Camp Chippewa in Ottawa, Kan.

The students from Kansas City, Kan., include Hannah Remick, Roseanna Williams-Richmond and Jordan House.

The summit challenged student leaders to explore and develop their leadership skills and teamwork while establishing values and respect, a spokesman said.

One course remains tonight about past leaders of Kansas at KCKCC

Kansas City Kansas Community College is offering its final course in a series looking at past leaders of Kansas.

The course on Dwight D. Eisenhower is at 6 p.m. Feb. 26 in Room 3625 on the KCKCC main campus, 7250 State Ave. Cost for the class is $5.

The series, which included presentations on Dr. James Naismith, Octave Chanute and Wilbur Wright, gives students the opportunity to learn from a first-person reenactor and see history come to life.

Students will get to “meet” the 34th president of the United States, Dwight Eisenhower, and through the re-enactment, those who attend will learn about D-Day, West Point, the 1952 and 1956 presidential campaigns, Winston Churchill, Little Rock and the Interstate Highway System.
