Adventures in Learning to be held Friday, July 18, at Grace Lutheran

Adventures in Learning, a free program of the Shepherd’s Center of Kansas City, Kan., will take place beginning at 9 a.m. Friday, July 18, at Grace Lutheran, 3333 Wood Ave.

The building offers entry-level parking and easy drop off of both people and equipment. Everyone is welcome to attend part or all of the day’s activities. The schedule for Friday, July 18:

Designed to celebrate and engage older adults, Adventures in Learning has been providing enrichment, fellowship and a noon meal for more than 27 years in Wyandotte County. Adventures in Learning provides free morning health screenings, selections of informational and educational workshops, and lunch with an entertaining program. These monthly programs are free and everyone is welcome to attend; join in one workshop or stay for the entire program. Lunch is served at noon for $4. Rain possible today; temperatures lower this week

A band of showers and thunderstorms will travel southeast, bringing a 50 percent chance of rain to Wyandotte County today, according to the National Weather Service.

Areas north of I-70 may see morning storms with the storm moving in the southeast direction.

A few strong storms are possible but no severe weather is expected, the weather service said.

Skies will be mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming sunny, with a high near 81. A north wind will be from 8 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 18 mph.

Tonight’s low will be 53, according to the weather service.

On Tuesday, the high temperature will be near 74, with sunny skies.
