KCKCC golfers honored after best conference finish

Turning in their best performances of the Jayhawk Conference season has earned two Kansas City Kansas Community College golfers post-season recognition.
Runnerup in the Jayhawk Championship, Lane Pauls of Newton was named to the All-Jayhawk second team while Seve Sites of Shawnee Mission West earned honorable mention with a seventh place. Both are freshmen.
Their performances helped KCKCC finish third in the Jayhawk Championship, the Blue Devils best conference finish of the season. Dodge City won the title with a 54-hole score of 904 followed by Johnson County (910) and KCKCC (917). Played at Sand Creek in Newton, Hutchinson was fourth (923) followed by Barton County (933), Garden City (957), Independence (959), Coffeyville (974) and Allen County (996).
Pauls finished just a stroke back of Hutchinson”s Jordan Hecker in the battle for medalist honors. Pauls had rounds of 72, 76 and 74 for a 6-over 222 total that tied with Dodge City’s Ryan Hand for second.
Sites’ rounds of 76, 77 and 76 for a 229 tied him for seventh while freshman Dalton Ayres of Newton tied for 14th (78-79-75–232), sophomore Collin Herron of Topeka Hayden shared 21st (81-80-75—236); and Piper freshman Montana Fasching tied for 30th (80-79-82—241).
The Blue Devils close out regular season play Monday and Tuesday, competing in the NJCAA Regional Tournament in Lawrence.

Rainy and cool Tuesday in forecast

Rain showers and cool weather are in the forecast for Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service.

A 70 percent chance of showers is possible. Today’s high will be near 52. A west northwest wind will be from 10 to 16 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph.

Tonight, there is a 50 percent chance of showers, and the low will be 40.

Wednesday, the chance of showers decreases to 30 percent, and rain is likely mainly after 1 p.m. The high will be near 53, with windy weather.

Thursday, it will be mostly cloudy with a high of 56. Friday’s high will be 63 and Saturday’s, 68.
