Weather to be partly sunny today

Today’s weather in Wyandotte County is expected to be partly sunny with a high near 64, according to the National Weather Service.

Winds will be from 13 to 18 mph, with gusts as high as 28 mph.

Drier air will move into the region and may spark a few midday thunderstorms in areas from Princeton to Unionville, Kirksville and Macon, Mo., the weather service said.

However, severe weather is not anticipated, but a few storms could have small hail.

There will be cooler temperatures this week and damp conditions heading into midweek. Temperatures will warm back above normal by next weekend, according to the weather service.

Tonight, there is a 20 percent chance of showers. Tuesday, there is a 70 percent chance of rain. Winds may gust as high as 23 mph on Tuesday.

Wednesday’s weather will be mostly cloudy with a high of 55.

 

 

Police investigate shooting near 51st and Leavenworth Road

Kansas City, Kan., police are investigating a shooting Monday morning near 51st and Leavenworth Road.

A police spokesman said police received a call around 7:42 a.m. about a disturbance between two people, believed to be a male and female. Both had gunshot wounds. The man died, and the woman was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

The shooting was determined to be domestic-related, police said.

The incident happened in a parking area, according to the spokesman. It is currently under investigation. Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call 913-573=6020 or the TIPS hotline at 816-474-TIPS.
