The 11th annual Piper High School Auction and Dinner is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 28.
Security Bank of Kansas City is sponsoring this event for the 11th year in a row. The location is George Meyn Center in Wyandotte County Park at 126th and State.
Doors open and live entertainment with a Sock Hop theme and silent auction begin at 5:30. Buffet dinner is served at 6:15. Live auction begins at 8 p.m.
The success of previous auctions has made it possible to provide uniforms, supplies and sportswear for the boys and girls basketball programs, wrestling, football, baseball, and cheerleading squads. Academic, theater, forensics and musical supplies were secured for “in school” demonstrations and live performances. Entry fees and certain travel expenses were covered for groups whose success required travel such as robotics, FCCLA, and drill team.
Last year, the 10th Annual Piper High School auction generated $24,000. PHS purchased pottery wheels and display cases for art classes, additional banners of achievement to hang in the gymnasium, and musical scripts and rights for the theater department’s performance of Grease. PHS purchased an additional printer for the library and was able to send FCCLA and Forensic members to national competitions. This year the “Fund a Need” project funds raised will be used for specific technology improvements including procuring a class set of iPads, additional laptops, and training and support for technology advances for staff.
Tickets are $30 per person and include buffet dinner and one drink from the bar. The community is invited to enjoy Piper Punch and an evening of fun and camaraderie to raise funds for Piper High School.
