BPU to meet Nov. 19

The Board of Public Utilities will meet at 4:30 p.m. Nov. 19 at board offices, 540 Minnesota Ave., Kansas City, Kan., for a work session.

On the agenda for the work session will be a general manager and board update; a report on CIP audit progress; and a capital plan discussion.

The regular BPU meeting will begin at 6 p.m. Nov. 19.

On the agenda are a visitors’ time; an audit update; a report about a budget transfer, and board and general manager comments.

Police investigate church burglaries

Kansas City, Kan., police are investigating four church burglaries that occurred Nov. 16-17.

According to a police spokesman, information is needed from the community to help identify any possible suspects in this incident. Persons are encouraged to report any possible suspects, a spokesman said.

The four burglaries were at the 1300 block of North 64th Street; the 1500 block of South 40th Street; the 1200 block of North 64th Terrace; and the 4000 block of South Minnie.

The Kansas City, Kan., Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Unit is encouraging anyone with information to call the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS (8477).

Police request public’s assistance in investigating aggravated battery

Police are requesting the public’s assistance in investigating an aggravated battery case.

At 8:55 a.m. Nov. 16, in the 500 block of Center Street, officers checked on a man in his 20s who had sustained serious injuries. Officers believe he was beaten up and possibly struck by a vehicle.

The victim is recovering at a hospital.

Center Street is near South 7th Street and Ruby Avenue, on the south side of Kansas City, Kan.
